Foreword partnered with People Function (Emma Guidarelli) to bring you a punchy, actionable and scalable manager training. This 4-part workshop series covers all the essentials and fundamentals of being a great people manager.

Developing your people (1h)

  • Explore what it means to develop your employees and why it’s important for them to grow, as well as for the company
  • Separate the HOW from the WHY, and understand why they’re different concepts
  • Discover tactics (HOW) to fulfill the WHY

Giving and receiving feedback  (1h)

  • Explore feedback as two-sided communication: Giving and receiving
  • Discover tools for giving feedback, such as SBI Framework and others
  • Learn the steps for receiving feedback as a manager

Communicating effectively as a leader (1h)

  • Learn the difference between communicating as a leader vs. as an IC
  • Learn how to frame a conversation in a way that makes the communication understandable and relatable
  • Explore tactics that’ll make the communication stick

Difficult conversations (1h)

  • Understand why it’s so tough to have difficult conversations
  • Learn about the role of emotions at play, and the reactions they can trigger
  • Discover a difficult conversation framework
  • Learn how the environment and our intentions can influence the conversation

I’m a people function builder based out of New York City. I support startups to thrive by establishing and stabilizing the HR structures and processes needed to grow value-aligned, productive, people-first cultures. 

As a seasoned people function builder, I understand how important supporting managers is. I’ve created a manager training specifically answering the needs of busy startups—it’s a series of foundational workshops that are bite-sized, dynamic, and immediately applicable. I’m an energetic facilitator and love to engage participants in discussions and activities that make the learning process interesting.
