Peer coaching: Managing your manager

In peer coaching sessions, you’ll join other participants in workshopping real issues around a specific topic. Most of the time will be spent in facilitated group discussions (in breakout rooms), so come prepared to be on camera and off mute.

Managing your manager

In this session, you will learn how to manage up to get more out of your job. We’ll first explore the 4 common pain points people face in managing their manager, and then dive into discussion groups to workshop how to overcome them and more successfully manage up. At the end of the session, you’ll walk away with:

• A more clearly articulated problem statement describing the biggest challenge you have in managing your manager today
• A sense of what bucket or category your challenge falls under
• An articulation of what ‘better’ looks like
• Ideas and support for practical actions and behavior changes, to get closer to where you want to be
• At least one practical commitment or action to make progress

A digital worksheet will be provided for you to take notes and revisit later.
