Description

Difficult conversations are often charged due to present emotions—either our own, someone else's, or both. With basic concepts of emotional intelligence, we can harness the information these emotions offer us and learn to manage their power.

This is part 2 of Laura’s most requested workshop. In large and small groups we will be doing exercises together, exploring ways to manage our (and other people’s) emotions, and sharing our challenges and successes.

Learning some emotional intelligence basics has the potential to not only help your career but also your health and personal relationships.

During this workshop, we will:

  • Learn basic Emotional Intelligence concepts of self-awareness, empathy, triggers, and hijacking
  • Explore how these concepts can help or hinder us during emotional conversations
  • Explore delivery habits that help and hinder communication including observation vs. evaluation, and owning vs. projecting a message
  • Explore how changing thoughts can change an emotional reaction

You will walk away with:

  • Improved skills in identifying and managing emotions in difficult conversations
